About us

Workpackage 8 - Dissemination, Training and Standardisation

 Objectives

•    Dissemination activities – Creation of awareness of OMEGA’s research results in the European and global research community as well as among other stakeholders and the interested public.
•    Standardisation – coordination of contributions to and influencing relevant standardisation bodies and fora.
•    Training – Improvement of mission-critical knowledge and skills of project participants and sharing of knowledge on OMEGA’s results via hands-on training seminars.

Description of work and role of partners

WP8 ensures proper dissemination and exploitation of the project results and knowledge. During the project we will continuously pursue dissemination and exploitation of its results and to influence standardisation with them. All WP8 tasks are support tasks for other work packages and tasks. Provision of the content itself will be part of the technical tasks within the related work packages.

TASK 8.1 – Dissemination activities (Leader: EUR)

In order for OMEGA to achieve a high impact towards the target audiences, the partners will perform the following dissemination activities:
•    Publication and presentation of technical papers based on OMEGA’s research results at conferences and workshops.
•    Publication of online and offline information on OMEGA and its results via the project website, the project flyer, a bi-monthly newsletter, and press releases.

TASK 8.2 – Training (Leader: HHI)

The key objective of this task will be to build internally and externally knowledge and skills, which are important for the achievement of the overall project goals of OMEGA. The detailed implementation of the training measures will be described in a training plan.

Project-internal training
The successful performance of the project requires a dynamically growing and changing set of knowledge and skills by the project partners. The objective of internal training measures is to identify and close mission-critical knowledge and skills gaps of individuals in the consortium in the most effective way. Related to this is the objective of identifying which knowledge and skills need to be developed within the project in order to close the gaps. A web-based survey will be the basis for identifying the subjects of two targeted face-to-face seminars for project participants.

Training for external audiences
The project will hold four hands-on, face-to-face seminars aimed primarily at technical experts in the telecoms industry who are interested to learn about the concept and specific technical subjects of OMEGA. The seminars will be generally open, but the OMEGA team reserves the right to select participants in order to ensure a homogenous group which can optimally benefit from the seminars.
The training events will be delivered in 1-day, face-to-face seminars by technical experts from the project. The seminars will be held in the last year of the project when mature technical results are available. The seminars will be interactive and will use a mix of activating training methods which are appropriate to the target group and the subject.
The face-to-face training seminars will be complemented by Web-Based Training (WBT) measures, including online tutorials and interactive knowledge transfer via the training section of the project website.

TASK 8.3 – Standardisation (Leader: SIEMENS)

This task organises, stimulates and controls contribution activities and their submission. It will ensure timely input of project output into standards bodies.
Contributions from OMEGA to relevant standardisation bodies and fora will be driven by this task group. Suitable standardisation bodies will be identified, monitored and information on their development disseminated into the project. Potential areas for contributions will be identified in close cooperation with the specific technical work packages (WP1/WP2/WP3/WP4/WP5 and WP6). A tight cooperation will foster the production of contributions to standardization bodies.
The task is limited to logistics and advice. It identifies important standardisation bodies, triggers participation and maintains a list of standards influenced. The content for the standardisation efforts is provided by the respective technical WPs. However, the budget for preparation of the specific standardisation drafts and proposals, and the expert-hours for attending standardisation bodies come from this task.
A standardisation roadmap that enables other WPs to keep track of related standardisation activities, and planned and submitted contributions is being maintained within this task.
